LUKE MALLETT WINS
CARP TALK / RIDGEMONKEY
JUNIORS AWARD 2017/18!!

Selecting an annual winner for the Carp Talk / RidgeMonkey Juniors column was always going to be very difficult, especially with the level of competition from juniors across the UK and beyond. There have been some truly incredible individual captures from junior anglers from far and wide over the last 12 months, however consistency was always going to be a huge factor in the final outcome of the overall annual award. With regular catch reports coming in from a number of anglers, the colder months would turn out to be a key factor.

Throughout the year we were continually impressed by the catch reports but throughout the winter and early spring two young anglers really stood out, with the prolific Luke Mallett just edging the equally prolific Joseph Watson. Luke showed is ability to catch carp from waters like The Wharf, Fendrod and the Linear complex, while demonstrating varied methods throughout all the months of the year. It was this consistency that has won Luke a £500 tackle voucher and Pro sponsorship with RidgeMonkey.

With the competition being so close we decided it was only fair to give Joseph Watson an impromptu runners-up prize, such were his efforts throughout the year. Joseph again was incredibly consistent with catch reports showing not only a great young angler, but one that’s prepared to venture out in all conditions. We have therefore sent Joseph a prize in the form of a voucher for £150 worth of RidgeMonkey products and wish a bright future for this talented young angler.

We love to encourage young anglers into fishing in any way we can and you only have to look at the amount of catch reports we received every week to see that the future is very bright indeed, with many talented young carpers coming to the forefront. A huge well done to all our monthly junior prize winners and Luke Mallett, in particular, as the overall annual champion. Congratulations Luke on being crowned the Carp Talk / RidgeMonkey Juniors Winner 2017/18.
